Learn more about this Program Program: School Equipment

Every village school requires basic amenities such as wells, electric generators, desks and educational materials. As the school construction comes to completion, it is still not ready for the students or teachers. Basic equipment and teaching tools are needed that enable these children to receive quality education and allow the teachers to effectively equip the children. Many schools have the children sitting on the floor because desks are not afforded.

Provide playground equipment for the Good Shepherd School. A complete playground is $800.

Unlike children in North America, the Dalit children have no access to toys or playground equipment and are forced to create their own games. Imagine the delight of the children when they have access to playground equipment.

Funds Raised: $100.00 CAD
Goal: $800.00 CAD

We were at Vancouver's Missions Fest last January 2009 and attended the Dalit seminar and watched Dr. Joseph D'Souza's DVD. I was deeply moved, disturbed, and convicted to do something for this people group.

I was a Sociology major in university and studied much about cultures, discrimination, and racism.   At age 8, I lost my father due to work conflicts and racial dislikes.   Two men at work argued with my dad and one of them hit him in the chest causing a heart attack. He died 45 hours later at age 45.

I know it's nothing close to what the Dalit people are going through and have been through for 3,000 years, but with my personal experience, I am passionate about being part of an organization that is working hard, with God's power & help, to abolish Dalit oppression.

With God's timing and leading, I thought about this:

    Training in December

Posted by Lily Louie on Dec 8, 2009 12:58 PM

Well folks, it's that time of year with lots of glitter and goodies lurking around and thinking about training this month is especially hard.  Since September to November, I've been playing some Ultimate frisbee and doing some step aerobics, but with that said, my right foot plantar fascia is very sore.  At this time, I'm getting some treatment at a sports physio clinic and physio advises to stay off any weight bearing exercise for now.  Indoor cycling and swimming is recommended.   Dave & I have gone to the gym last week to do some indoor cycling and did some light swimming.

Dec 8, Tue - Dave & I are going to Watermania - I'll be doing some indoor cycling while Dave will be power skating.  We'll meet up in the swimming pool to do a few laps.

In January, we plan to stick to a 10 week beginner sprint training schedule I found in my research.  Keep us accountable!  And thanks for your support,  Lily & Dave :)
