Since we reach our goal yesterday I assumed that all the kids had brought in all the money they could. I was wrong.

Today they blew me out of the water with an overwhelming total

These 40 kids have gone above and beyond our beginning goal of $250 and 500 bricks. It does help that it was a competition, but besides that, they're attitudes have amazed me. Today one girl brought in her savings of $5. Her mom asked her if she understood where it was going, and if she knew that she would never get it back. The girl answered her mom "the kids in India need this more then I do."

I'm aware that some people could write a check for $459 dollars but there is something powerful about a group of kids rallying together, giving their allowance and savings, settiing up lemonade stands, and donating their tooth ferry money to help the Dalits. I am shocked by the amount they brought in and truly grateful for their giving hearts. May these children be an inspiration to us, to give out of what we have because "the kids in India need this more than we do."

Thankyou on behalf of the Dalits and specifically the children whos lives will be changed because of your change.

With one day left we have reached our goal of $250 and 500 bricks!! I am so surprised and grateful for all that the children have raised this week so far. Thank-you to everyone involved! Every brick supports the education of these children!

With two days left we've reached a little over half of our goal. I've heard rumors that some of the kids are setting up lemonade stands to fundraise some money. Another girl lost a tooth today and she's going to give the money the toothfairy gives her to the Dalit people! Thing are going really well and the kids seem to be having a blast!

Day 1

The first day of Village Church Summer Camp is officially done. Everyone had a blast and its just the beginning of the children learning more about the Dalit people!

The theme this year is high seas expedition and the kids are on board a ship to find some treasure. One of the volunteers dressed up as an Indian girl named Priya and hopped on board the ship. She told the kids she had travelled a long way from India to be on this boat so she could share a message with them. She told them about her Dalit friends in India and how they don't have much. She challanged the two teams; "shark bait" and the "little oysters" to help around their house to make money so they can bring in loonies that will buy bricks and contribute to the construction of a Good Shepherd School for  Dalit children in India.
